Alfa 1900 Color Examples This is an attempt at creating a visual guide to evaluating "original" Alfa Romeo colors for your restoration. Reading the printed color chart is one thing, but seeing what those colors actually look like on a car similar to your own would, I think, be quite useful. Conversely, it may be useful to see a car in a color you like and being able to more-or-less match it up to a color name. Please bear in mind that this "spotter's guide" to Alfa 1900 colors is UNOFFICIAL...these examples are my best guesses at what any particular color might actually look like based on what I see on my computer screen. Also, colors with the same or similar name may be a slightly different shade on Tipo4s vs. Tipo1s, for example. Likewise, the same color might have a different name when applied to Tipo2s than when applied to Supers, to conjure up another example. And on, and on and on. Hopefully you get my drift! And I am not saying that any particular car is actually painted in such-and-such color. I am simply saying that a car in a color that I see in a photograph looks about right--TO ME-- for the color named. It may not be exactly the named color and you may perceive it differently. Nor am I discounting the color-shifting effects of film, scans, digital files and monitors. All have an effect on the color perceived. With that in mind, let's get started with a listing of Alfa 1900 colors provided years ago by Peter Marshall, as well as four authentic Colori charts.
