Retrimming a 1957 1900CSS

These photos are cribbed from a website of the French company Sellerie Gomez. The narrative is my own, largely based on the story that I presume the photos are telling. A much more thorough explanation of the process (but en Francais) can be found on the Sellerie Gomez website at http://www.selleriegomez.com/sellerie_auto_moto/mes-plus-belles-realisations/alfa-romeo-1900-ss-de-1957/.

The Original Seats & Door Panels
The seats and door panels looked like this before the interior restoration began. Not bad, but certainly room for improvement.

Seats, Door Panels and Headliner Removed
After the seats and door panels were removed, substantial rust was evident on the inner door areas. Hopefully that was taken care of! The other two views detail the Superleggera construction method used by Carrozzeria Touring and the structure behind the headliner.

Replacement of the Headliner
This is an amazing sequence of photos...practically a step-by-step guide to headliner replacement. I presume--but do not know--that the process for an earlier Touring coupe would be very similar.

Rebuilding the Seats
The seat frames were rebuilt, apparently using a more modern technique than originally supplied.

The Finished Product
Here's the finished product. Certainly a major improvement over the originals, and much more in keeping with what appears to be the restoration level of the body. Very nice!
